Registered Teams

We are a local non-profit group (501(c)3) located in Charleston, South Carolina that is passionate about paddle sports, physical fitness, fellowship and protecting our waterways. Our regular events include weekly dragon boat practices, outrigger canoeing, and various social and volunteer events throughout the year. Club members compete nationally and internationally with our dragon boat team – the Charleston Firebreathers – and also independently by joining Team USA. Members also compete regionally in outrigger canoe events, both individually and as part of a crew.

The Sun Angel team is in memory of Dick Haas who was a member of DBB since its inception. I know he will look down on us and be our best supporter as he always was but keep in mind that you really want him up there ROOTING for us now because in reality he knew that paddling was not his strength. He recognized early on that golf and softball were his forte but never missed a DBB race day or party and let me do what I loved best……besides him!

Our coed team consists of members and friends of the Knights of Columbus Michael O’Connor Council 5026, based out of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. The Knights of Columbus’ principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism are at the base of the Order’s core values which are Integrity, Professionalism, Excellence and Respect. Together, we’re empowering Catholic men to live their faith at home, in their parish, at work and in their community.

We are passionate about Dragonboat Beaufort’s purpose of helping those affected by cancer and are excited for paddling on the Beaufort River in Raceday 2022!

Dragon Boating is a very therapeutic sport for us all… those affected by cancer and those who want to paddle for health. Find your inner warrior on the water – while you share the task of simply moving the boat together in complete sync. surrounded by nature and all the beauty that is involved.

Land Sharks are Dragonboat fundraisers. We won’t be paddling on race day, but that won’t stop us from raising funds!

Orangetheory is a heart-rate based HIIT total-body group workout that combines science, coaching and technology to guarantee maximum results from the inside out. It’s designed to charge your metabolism for MORE caloric afterburn, MORE results, and MORE confidence, all to deliver you MORE LIFE. Orangetheory is more than a gym because the work you do here in our studio will make all the difference out there in your world. This is our second year at the Dragonboat Beaufort festival and we are excited to go All Out on the water like we do in the studio! Watch out for the Orange Zone!

Bluffton Paddle Club is a local not for profit with the mission of bringing people together on the waterways and promote paddle sports. You will find us exploring new waterways, picking up trash, or helping give back to the community throughout paddle season.

Our mascot is Pluff the Buck because deer are great paddlers! Deer paddle island to island just like us. But in the spirit of the Beaufort Dragon Boat Race we will be racing under Pluff the Magic Dragon!
