Dragon Boat Beaufort, inc (DBB) respects your online privacy. This privacy policy is intended to give you confidence in the privacy and security of the personal information we obtain from you. This statement defines what personal information we collect and what it is used for. This privacy statement only applies to data collected online for our Dragon Boat Race Day Festival (Race Day).

Definition of Terms

  • “DBB” refers to Dragon Boat Beaufort Inc, a non-profit corporation registered in the state of South Carolina.
  • “Race Day” refers to the fund raising festival held annually by DBB.
  • “Participant” refers to a person registered to participate in the Race Day festival either as a paddler, drummer, team captain or fund raiser.
  • “Website” refers to web pages hosted at the domain www.dragonboat-raceday.com.

What Type of Information We Collect

DBB collects personally identifiable information on anyone registered to participate in Race Day. This information includes your name, physical address and email address. Participants are required to create a user name and password to manage their fund raising efforts. By giving us such information you consent to our using it in the manner described in this policy.

You may withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us at privacy@dragonboatbeaufort.org. We will return or destroy your personal information within five days of receipt of your withdrawal of consent.

DBB collects personally identifiable information on anyone making a payment or donation through our web site. This includes your name, physical address, email address and credit card information.

How We Use This Information

We use personal information to allow us to process your service requests, provide access to privileged areas of the Websites, personalize your visit to our Websites and send out event notifications and newsletters. We may occasionally carry out market research and send you details of services and offers that we think may be of interest to you. If you do not wish to receive such information, please e-mail privacy@dragonboatbeaufort.org, or alternatively when we send you an e-mail it will contain a provision for you to opt out of receiving any further information from us.

How This Information is Shared

DBB shares your address and credit card information with our credit card processor.

DBB is an umbrella organization of the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry (CFL), a 501(c)(3) registered non-profit organization. We share donor information with CFL for tax purposes.

DBB uses Google Analytics to track web site traffic. Google analytics may use personally identifiable information from your web browser such as your location or IP address.

DBB does NOT sell your personal information, or share it with other organizations for the purposes of advertising or marketing.

We will not disclose your personal information to any third party unless you have consented to such disclosure or where we are required to do so by law. We may disclose your information to a relevant authority if we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation. This may include exchanging information with other companies and organizations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction. Any disclosure of personal information will be strictly controlled and made fully in accordance with current U.S. law.

Cookie Policy

A “Cookie” is a small data file that a website you visit may save on your computer or handheld device.

Our Website may use cookies for user authentication, keeping track of your preferences, tracking our audience size and traffic patterns, and in certain other cases. We may include graphic images in our email messages and newsletters to determine whether the messages were opened and the links were viewed.

Web Site Security

Security on our Website is treated seriously. Where applicable we undertake security steps to prevent data breaches including, but not limited to, use of encrypted communications technology, strong password authentication and encryption of sensitive data such as passwords. However, this is not a guarantee that such data transmissions cannot be accessed, altered or deleted due to firewall or other security software failures.

PCI Compliance

“PCI” is an abbbreviation of Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard, a set of procedures for preventing Credit Card fraud.

DBB complies with the PCI standards set down by the credit card industry, to the extent required by our credit card merchant. DBB does not store any credit card data on our servers.

Can Users Review and Change the Information Collected?

Any registered participants can log in to their account on the web site, and review and change their personal information.

Can I Request that DBB Does Not Track Me?

Do not track requests can be made via email to privacy@dragonboatbeaufort.org.

Policy Effective Date

This policy may be amended from time to time. Any amendments to our Privacy Policy will be posted as a notification on our homepage

For California Residents

The following statements are provided to comply with the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA).

  • Users can visit our web site anonymously
  • Our privacy policy is available from our website homepage and most other web pages. It is available as a link named “Privacy”, most often located at the foot of the web page.
  • Users will be notified of any privacy policy changes on our Privacy Policy web page.
  • Users are able to change their personal information by emailing us at privacy@dragonboatbeaufort.org.
  • DBB does not track its customers over time and across third party websites and therefore does not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals from web browsers.
  • Our web site does allow third party behavioral tracking.
